We diagnose and treat eye diseases in our office including macular degeneration, cataracts, and diabetic eye diseases. We refer our patients to the best surgeons for cataract and lasik procedures and provide post operation care right here at our office. We treat dry eyes, which is a very common eye condition in our state. Dry eyes can be treated with several things starting with artificial tears to punctal plugs. We provide glaucoma screening at every visit which includes an eye pressure test and visual field test.
We are happy to announce that we have added a state of the art machine, the Optovue, which will allow us to diagnose disease much quicker and better. It includes the OCT scan (Optical Coherence Tomography), which is a non-invasive imaging test that uses light waves to take cross-section pictures of your retina. Below is a scan of a normal retina with all the layers shown.
We provide the OCT scan at every visit. This can show us signs of macular degeneration years in advance and many other eye diseases with a quick scan.
We also have the the state of the art retinal camera which allows us to see the whole retina with just one flash without dilating the patient. Patients can also see for themselves what is going on in their eyes. With this technology, we can track eye diseases such as diabetic eye and macular degeneration much easier. Below is a picture of the retina of a patient with diabetes.
